ABOUT THE BOOK

An Immortal Guardians Companion
By Dianne Duvall
Release Date: October 12, 2021

Hello, all!

Your favorite character, Sheldon, here. If you’re an Immortal Guardians fan, I think you’re really going to enjoy this companion. Dianne has packed it with ninety pages of deleted scenes that feature many of the characters you’ve come to know and love plus a bonus scene from Cliff’s Descent that you won’t want to miss.

You’ll also find every character interview Dianne has ever written inside these pages. (Those of you who’ve encountered a few in the past know the ones I conduct are the best.) If you’ve never read one or you missed a few, then pick up a copy, sit back, and laugh while I interview Immortal Guardians and the loves of their lives for the network. Even Chris Reordon and Todd down at network headquarters get in on the action.

I also interview Dianne and ply her with questions I thought you’d like to ask her. Throw in a couple of short stories, what inspired the Immortal Guardians series, and a brief Who Does What Now? list, and you’re bound to enjoy it.

See you on the inside!

Your friend,

Sheldon
Immortal Guardian Richart’s immensely competent Second
And the most beloved character in the Immortal Guardians series (at least in his mind)

The Immortal Guardians Series:

Dianne Duvall’s Top 5 Favorite Horror Movies

Hello! Thank you for joining us in celebrating the release of AN IMMORTAL GUARDIANS COMPANION. This year marks the tenth anniversary of the launch of my Immortal Guardians series, so I thought it would be a great time to provide fans with a one-stop shop for deleted scenes, bonus scenes, short stories, and laugh-inspiring character interviews that feature the characters they’ve come to know and love. I had a lot of fun, putting it all together. :-)

I have always looked forward to the month of October, and not just because the brutal heat of summer finally begins to wan. Back when paranormal romance was still rare, I could always count on October to bring me some exciting new PNR releases. I LOVE paranormal romance because it combines two of my favorite genres: romance and horror. And when I’m not immersed in yet another PNR book, I like to dim the lights and lose myself in the horror movies that proliferate in the weeks leading up to Halloween. My list of favorite scary movies is a very long one, so today I would share my Top 5 Favorite Horror Movies that paint characters into a terrifying corner.

My Top 5 Favorite Horror Movies

1)    THE THING — Talk about painting characters into a corner! Whew! These poor guys can’t tell who to trust and can’t escape the threat in their camp without freezing to death. This one is a classic, and I never tire of watching it.

2)    30 DAYS OF NIGHT — Another great set-up: A tiny community that descends into 30 days of darkness with no sunrise and no communication with the outside world? It’s a vampire’s dream. And I really like the approach this movie took to vampires.

3)    DESCENT — If you’re familiar with my books, then you know I like stories that feature strong women. The women in this are indeed strong and encounter something unexpected while exploring a cave that has not yet been mapped. Not many scary movies spook me, but this one did.

4)    THE RUINS — If someone had told me before I watched this what the “monster” was, I would’ve just stared at him or her and said, “Seriously?” But it has found a permanent place in my horror library.

5)    TRAIN TO BUSAN — There are sooooooo many zombie movies out there that this one is sometimes overlooked. But I really like it. The characters pull me in every time and, sometimes, just break my heart. This is a great one.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

I think the most terrifying corner I’ve ever painted a character into was in THE SEGONIAN, which isn’t part of the Immortal Guardians series but does feature an Immortal Guardian heroine. I think she weathered it well. ;-)

So, what are some of your favorite scary movies that paint characters into a corner?

  2. I love horror movies. Poltergeist and The Conjuring are among my favorites as well and Sweeny Todd was cool. I feel like I need to take another look at the top 5 though. I've seen 2 of them for sure, and maybe 2 others, but they're a blur. Definitely going to look into that!

  3. My son loves horror movies so I end up watching them with him. I used to freak out with them which greatly amused my son, but I've mellowed. Aliens is probably his fav and I've grown to appreciate it. Arachnophobia is probably my personal favorite because... spiders...

  6. I'm a wimp too. But I loved watching the Poltergeist films and the Amityville films too. I really should get around to watching Sweeny Todd. I's need An Immortal Guardians Companion to de-scare me afterwards though. 😘
